Gifted and Talented Artwork

At Ray Lodge, ICT is taught as a subject in its own right and has an important role to play in other areas of the curriculum.  We have a fantastic Computer Suite, containing a Client Server Network with 31 computers in the suite and networked classroom computers.  We are also very proud to have Interactive Whiteboards throughout the year groups which have improved the creative teaching immeasurably.  Each class has a weekly session in the Computer Suite advancing their skills using a range of programs that enthuse and stretch the children.

The Co-ordinator and staff at Ray Lodge, believe that it is important that children's learning be advanced by the use of computer technology, as its use is widespread throughout the world.  All children will be helped to develop confidence and enjoyment in, and an understanding of, the potential of computer applications including e-mail and the World Wide Web.  We believe that teaching and learning can be enhanced by the appropriate use of computers and interactive whiteboards.  Pupils should be given the opportunity, where appropriate, to develop and apply their information technology capability in their study of each subject in the National Curriculum (Statutory Orders).

Our Information and Communication Technology Policy is guided by the following principles:

  • Investments in hardware and software systems must be linked to the aim of making teaching, learning and administration more effective giving rise to greater pupil achievement.

  • We will seek to evaluate and maximise the effectiveness of use of our ICT systems in making learning more effective.

  • ICT systems will be deployed so as to make them readily available to the greatest number of pupils throughout the school day.

  • We will manage responsible and safe use of computer software.

  • We will not be prepared to allow obstacles to stand in the way of developments that will ensure the effective use of expensive resources.

  • We will provide appropriate opportunities for teaching staff to evaluate the impact of ICT with the aim of making learning using ICT more effective.

  • We will develop cross-curricular links with ICT supporting other curriculum areas.

  Tesco Vouchers

Following our collection of Tesco Vouchers during the Spring and Summer Terms, Mrs Sawka and two Year 6 pupils collected one of our many pieces of equipment from Tesco.  The presentation was attended by Lee Scott, local MP for Redbridge and other schools in the Borough.
